As of 1 July 2024 the federal government has stated they will no longer fund Hiring Incentives for Trainees in Business, Finance, Information Technology and Supply Chain qualifications.
This means your new starters must be signed up with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider by 30 June 2024.
Is this going to change?
While federal incentives will still exist for qualifications deemed to be a national priority (primarily Apprenticeships), the national government is still considering the broader impact their decision on federal incentives may have on Traineeships in other industries via conducting a and seeking industry feedback.
However, there have been no decisions to potentially change or restore the current federal Hiring Incentives after 30 June for these industries yet.
What can you do to help?
If you would like to provide information to the government about how changes to federal incentives will impact your organisation or plans for traineeships, please read the Strategic Review information in the link above and send your thoughts on the value of incentives to ApprenticeshipsReview@dewr.gov.au.
Having every voice heard on incentives is critical to the right outcome for Australian traineeships.
